Centrifugal horizontal pumps have the motor side by side, ie. that the shaft is positioned horizontally. An unequaled advantage is a smaller height installation space, easier assembly and dismantling = pump is better accessible, pumps are usually less susceptible to aeration, and when run dry, there is less risk that mechanical seal would be damaged.
